INFANT BACK CARRY

(newborn to 3months)

This carry can be used from birth and is super convenient to learn. If you can master this method you will have no problem getting all your work done and still be able to chase after an older toddler. By the time baby can sit supported, the other back carries may become more comfortable for you - however, some babies like the feeling of being perched high up on your shoulder and insist on this carrying method for a long time.

ONE Start by lying your baby in the Weepee with the sleepee collar at their neck. I have both shoulder straps in my left hand and I am using them to hold baby's head securely. My right hand (hard to see) is under baby's torso and I will use it to lift her onto my shoulder in the next step.

TWO Still holding shoulder straps securely in my left hand and baby's torso with my right hand. I have lifted her gently onto my right shoulder.

THREE Still holding baby with your right hand, place the left shoulder strap over your left shoulder. Holding both shoulder straps tightly you can now let go of your baby. They are secured to your body by the shoulder straps.

FOUR Now cross the shoulder straps in front of you (above your breasts), cross them behind your back and then tie them in front under your breasts.

FIVE Now tuck baby's legs into fetal/froggy leg position (shown) or wrap them around you (okay at about 8 to 10 weeks old). Tie the waist straps over your breasts snuggly.

SIX  BACK VIEW Now, go for a little walk, and check out your tying method in the mirror. The younger you start this carrying method the quicker your baby will get snug and comfy in it.
