ANSWERS
Can I wear my toddler in the Weepee while pregnant?
Definitely! As long as you and baby are comfortable. The Weepee can be tied under or over your belly safely. I don't really recommend carrying baby on front when your belly is big, but back and hip carries should remain comfortable.
Is the Weepee comfortable and practical for long walks or hikes?
I think so. I live in the mountains without the use of a car and walk all the time with my son on my back. I also go for 1.5 to 2 hour hikes several times a week in the summer and on the weekends we hike all day (and I am the one that carries the baby 90% of the time).
How should I dress my baby in the Weepee?
When you are wearing your baby your body heat will keep you both warm. I recommend that you dress them very lightly, if at all. The best way to carry your baby (in my humble opinion) is skin-to-skin. Their little naked body against your chest or back. Even as my son got older I often carried him this way. Plus, it is so easy to take them out of the Weepee and let them pee if they don't have cumbersome snaps etc. to undo.
What range of baby's ages will fit the Weepee?
The Weepee is ideally designed to be used from newborn to toddler, but it can even be used to carry young children that are tired of walking - as long as you are able to do it, the Weepee can too.
Does the Weepee come in different sizes?
Yes. There are three sizes. Please see SIZES for more information. The amazing thing about the Weepee design is that one size fits a huge range of body shapes and sizes. For example, I am 5'0" (100lbs) and my husband is 6'3" (180lbs) and we both find the standard size Weepee fits well. It is really important that you choose the appropriate size Weepee for mama to breastfeed, and in most cases the same Weepee will fit dad and other caregivers without a problem (because they aren't nursing they don't require the strap length).
Is it difficult to put your baby on your back using the Weepee - I am nervous about it?
The first time I put my son on my back I was also nervous. It takes practice before it feels like second nature and I do recommend that you have someone spot you while you are practicing. It will really help if you read my instructions carefully and call me if you have any questions. I feel really comfortable with putting my son on my back now that I have done it soooo many times. And, as your baby learns your positioning technique she will probably help you out :-)
My baby has red marks on his legs when I have been carrying him on my back for awhile - is the Weepee hurting him?
Any carrier that holds your baby for long periods of time will have pressure points - even if there is huge amounts of padding. The Weepee does not pinch your baby at all when worn correctly. I have carried my son for hours, and at the end of a long journey, also noticed red marks on his legs (especially cause he is often nakeybutt when I am holding him). He also gets red marks on his bum when he sits on the toilet seat for longer than 5 minutes. They seem to go away really quickly and I don't believe they are hurting him (he seems perfectly happy). Of course, you should always listen to your baby and if they are uncomfortable I would remove them from the carrier immediately. In addition, you could put your child in some heavier fleece or cotton pants to protect their skin when you are doing a long carry or going for a walk.
What if I try using the Weepee and feel it is not suitable for my needs?
No problem. I strongly urge you to talk to me and let me work you through any difficulties you might have. If you still feel that the Weepee is not the right carrier for you, then you can return it to me in "like new" condition (unwashed) for a full refund. You have 30 days to decide if you will be keeping the Weepee unless otherwise agreed upon at the time of purchase (e.g. your baby is not yet arrived and may come later than 30 days - just let me know). See Return Policy.
Can I breastfeed my baby in the Weepee?
Yes, there shouldn't be any trouble breastfeeding baby from newborn to toddler. In fact, I feel the Weepee is ideal for breastfeeding (especially if baby is next to your skin they can just take the breast when they want it). Simply loosen your slip knot, re-position baby at the breast and then tighten slip knot to support baby's head while they are feeding. Everyone's body (i.e. breast size and shape too) is different and requires a different method to tie baby in breastfeeding position. That is why the Weepee is so ideal - it is completely versatile for different body shapes and sizes.
The shoulder straps seem too short for me to breastfeed - is this possible?
Yes, it is possible, but before you start thinking you need longer straps try the following tips. Firstly, when you are tying the slip knot, tie it on the side so that you have more strap length (I always make my knot on the right side). Secondly, it is most comfortable for both you and baby if you wear baby high up on your body and bring your nipple up to his mouth (as opposed to letting baby ride low in the carrier to reach your breast). Contact me if this is still a problem for you.
How should I care for the Weepee Baby Carrier?
The Weepee is designed for wearing and washing. Wash in cold water and hang to dry (please wash before first use - washing fluffs the fabric molecules which creates friction and grip needed for tying knots). Hemp/cotton blend becomes softer and more cuddly with each repeated washing.
I am big-breasted and look funny when crossing the shoulder straps in front (for back carrys) - is the Weepee still for me?
The Weepee is actually the perfect mei tai inspired baby carrier for you. The side loops permit you to position the straps above your breasts or over your breasts in a way that looks good and is comfortable for you. Without the side loops you don't have very much control over how squished up they'll be. I
How many ways can I tie-on the Weepee?
There really are an unlimited number of ways the Weepee can be used. You can check out my instruction page or experiment and invent your own comfy carrys. If you discover something fantastic for you, be sure to let me know.
Will the Weepee be too hot to wear in the summer?
The Weepee is perfect for warm climates. There is a minimum amount of fabric covering you and your baby - and the hemp/cotton blend is breathable and soft on perspiring bodies.
What about wintertime, how do I wear the Weepee in the cold?
The best way to wear baby in the Weepee inside is next to your skin and a big, button down shirt over top of you both. If you are venturing outside with an older baby that can't fit under your clothing, the Weepee can be tied over top of your winter gear and baby's snowsuit, I do it all the time and it's comfy.
